Eurasian eagle owl (captive)
© Liz Stanley

Houston, MN Owl Festival

This owl was brought by the Wild Bird Sanctuary. It is a European owl and a female named "Xena." She is absolutely HUGE and really lives up to her name! An interesting fact is since this is not a native owl, it does not fall under the same laws protecting native birds. She was bred in captivity for educational purposes.

Liz, that is a beautiful owl, I've never seen a Eurasian eagle owl before this picture. For sure it is a beautiful rendering of a beautiful raptor.
