Every large city will face the unavoidable physical changes, such as replacing the old with the new. Often times some of the old buildings have historical significance and must be perserved. In Toronto and Ontario, there are laws and by-laws to protect old buildings. If a building must be demolished, and rebuilt, at least part of the old structure must be included in the new building, as you can see in this picture.
