Appears very close to Western Gull, with dark mantle and contrasting black wing tips. Back not quite as dark as pure Western. Too much head mottling for Western. This bird has a pink eye ring, fitting Glaucous-winged, not the yellow-orange eye ring of Western. Typical large bulbous school bus yellow bill. Dark eye.
