The top of Arthur’s Seat itself is capped by an igneous intrusion, in this case one fed by a dyke that forced its way between the junctions of the Lion’s Head and Lions Haunch craters. The line of this dyke can be traced on the hillside above the erosion feature known as the Gutted Haddie (see Arthur’s Seat – Location).
