Bluejay taking flight

Eastern Ontario, Canada

Blue Jays take off fast and without much warning so it's difficult to get shots like this one. The transition from a perched position to flight seems to take place all in a split second. It comes down to observing their behaviour and timing.

Shutter Priority, f/4, 1/2500, EC -1/3, ISO 400 at 200mm.

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks Erich. Heheheh :) I needed to provide an incentive for it to come close. It flew off with what it wanted and I got the shot.

Thanks Grace and sunny713. I appreciate both of your comments. I have been trying to get close enough to a Bluejay to photograph it since Spring. I have had no success until recently. Now I see so many of them and up close too. Just bring some peanuts :)
