lax

Agathla Peak, near Kayenta, Arizona

during earlier times of shooting photos with film, B&W emulsions were a frequent choice...in digi-cam days though, must admit to being lax making monochrome images...perhaps a re-think is in order

Nikon D7000
Nikkor 18-200mm - 1/1000s f/11.0 at 70.0mm iso400 full exif

Very nice in mono, David. Agathla rarely disappoints regardless of the level of effort.

Great shot, David. I totally agree with your remarks. We should return to b&w more often to get that special atmosphere which we tend to forget. ~V

There is a special quality you get with film as opposed to digital quality. Well worth the film effort back then and even today if you so choose. The tones cannot be beat!

I have seen this in person and your black and white capture is one of the best images I have seen of this challenging subject. I really like how you used the lighting and your excellent value range. VV++

B&W is a good choice and so is the time of day you took this to get the shadows.

I love the beauty of black-and-white images. They seem more dramatic especially when used to photograph such striking landscapes as this. Very nicely done! VV

Good light and shadow detail. B&W at times is more effective in showing mood, an line and form.
