Dunedin, New Zealand

apparently in the Gothic Revival style, the First Presbyterian Church (first European settlers here were Scots), with it's spiky features, certainly sports a strong vertical thrust...the idea was to direct the eyes upward, towards heaven, in keeping with religious mythology...the building was completed in 1873
