the ancient Persians celebrated the day after the winter solstice as the victory of light over darkness...as the days lengthen again, darkness is pushed aside more and more, and the world gradually reawakens until the summer solstice...the image could also imply the victory of reason over belief, the victory of peace over strife, or simply the victory of life over death...at this time of focus on light, a subject that looms large for all photographers, I would like to offer my pbase friends the best wishes of the season, however you view and celebrate it, and the same for the coming times
