Reena (Irene, in English, which means "piss" in Greek, she explained), our guide, was explaining about village life in Lesvos. She told us (privately, when we asked) that she had to study 6 years to qualify as a guide and her parents paid for her to study English for 3 years. But it paid off. She was excellent! Fortunately we had her on both our coach trips.
