Australian Coral Snake Brachyurophis australis

Rocky Dam, NSW

This little snake was on a road amongst a little too much traffic- it was quite lucky not to have ended up as snake linoleum.
Australian Coral snakes are a small, secretive, inoffensive species that may be encountered when gardening or on the road at night.
Although venomous, they are not considered dangerous and I haven never seen one attempt to bite, even in self-defence.
