Chess

These are two pieces of a chess set. Jeremy's father used worked in Nigeria for a time and when Jeremy visited him there he bought this set. They are beautiful -half the set is black and half a pinkish beige. But... they are made of sandstone and are very brittle so over the years we've managed to break a number of pieces and the board. Where's the glue?

Yes Gail, similar 'feel' to the set I have that I got in Tanzania in the late 90s, made of soapstone which is not as brittle as sandstone and very smooth. Half are white and the others a muddy pink.http://www.pbase.com/shreder/image/41867710

Well first of all I love the pieces, and the framing, but the subtle touch that makes it great is the background - nice choice!

They are very unusual chess pieces. I would love a chess set but haven't found one I like yet (I want something different).

Wow nice shot Gail, as a suggestion, maybe you could move the bigger piece a bit more center, its a bit tight close to the smaller piece

They are really pretty chess pieces!

Very unusual chess pieces, nice toning and composition. I joined the chess club at school many, many years ago - it was the only way I could stay inside at lunchtime if it was raining!
