Colorful Earth

Arizona

Who needs to go to the moon? We have "outer limits" on this earth.

Perspective: If you were standing at the bottom of this canyon at, say the middle of the image and about one of third the way up into the image, you would only be a small speck in the image.

other sizes: small medium original auto

This is one of the first images I have tried producing in a different work flow that I read about. After basic adjustment in raw I transfer the 16 bit image to photoshop (and this is my usual way). But then I converted the image from RGB to Lab and clicked on "lightness". Then sharpened using 0 and 1 and 200 for my settings as recommended in the write up. Then returned the image to RGB for final work. I like to use the numbers and my blackest blacks were only in the 30's on this image and the lightest were 210 or so. So actually I have many more images where the numbers go from about 10 to 255. But 255 in this case blew out some of the light textures.

Fred,
Excellent detail with a nice dynamic range.
