Dale With Tex Rankin's Plane

This morning, Carol's brother, Dale Rankin, and I visited the Oregon Aviation Historical Society museum in Cottage Grove. They have a lot of memorabilia donated by the family of Tex Rankin, at one time world champion pilot. Tex was Dale's great-uncle. Dale was named after his son. The museum has a 1931 Great Lakes 2T-1A biplane that was owned by Tex, and they are in the process of restoring it. They hope to finish it for a test flight toward the end of the year. It was nice to get a photo of Dale with the plane.

I love this photo. I love Dale's expression. You can tell it was a fun day full of meaning. Spending the day with you Vern would make it extra special.
