Stillness

Hanoi, Vietnam

This shot was taken before sunrise at Hanoi train station. As you can see in this shot there were just a few people waiting for the train. The BW conversion gives you the strange feeling of eeriness, since it was dark. Everything "appeared" at the stand still position except the movement of a few people (blurring effect) crossing the tracks, which makes the station appear `alive'.

A very well done effect between what moves and what doesn't (V)

You've communicated the station bustle well and I imagine due to the lateness/earliness of the hour it was eerily quiet. Reminds me of rail travel in Thailand which always involves bleary eyes and early hours.

You handled the scene nicely with a good composition and excellent technical execution.

I love the composition and the effect. Great lens that I use frequently myself.
Wonder if you can brighten the midtones ever so slightly with levels (maybe my monitor is dark :o) ) so the train and the people pop out a wee bit more.
