The Stairs

Schooner Cove, Nanoose Peninsula, Vancouver Island, BC

Many island residents live on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the saltwater.
The challenge of traversing the cliff to get to the water is usually overcome
by constructing a steep and winding set of stairs down to the water's edge.

Wonderful contrast between the orderly stairs and the twisted, dead-standing snags. The water and beach rocks anchors the whole image. Love the black and white! - Ed Maxfield

Whilst the steps may be the reason for the photo, it is the bare trees that really make this...
