Sunspot activity goes in 11-year cycles, and in 2004, the cycle was near its peak. These two sunspot groups, known as 564 and 565 according to Spaceweather.com were photographed with a Meade ETX-90, an Identi-View solar filter, and a Nikon D100 at prime focus. The exposure was 1/400 of a second at ISO 640. This is an 11-frame stack, processed using Registax and Photoshop CS-3.
