On November 8, 2006, Mercury transited the sun. I photographed the event from the parking lot of Kalmbach Publishing Co. where, at that time, I was the photo editor for Birder's World magazine. Our sister publication, Astronomy magazine, held a solar viewing party for everyone at the company, and I took pictures through a Meade ETX 90. Mercury is the small dot at the lower left of the photo. A large sunspot can be seen near the top of the sun's limb.
