5/14/08 - Flip Montage

Saw a very unusual bearded iris - so dark in color that it appeared almost black. Deep down in the iris, invisible from the outside, it had a golden glowing color.
Not leaving well enough alone, I flipped this image horizontally and overlaid it on itself to form a montage - in this case an image symmetrical about a vertical axis down the center. This technique was popularized by Andre Gallant in his book - Dreamscapes.
Just a little different. Larger than life-size via a 1:1 macro lens and a 1.4X teleconverter.
Here's the original (non-montage) version which I suspect many viewers might prefer - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/97070923

What a wonderful application of the technique! Beautiful results; very appropriate.
