This image was captured as a D300 color RAW. Converted to jpeg (would have done tiff if it was for other than web posting) with Capture NX. Converted to monochrome with a sepia tone & a light grain using a marvelous B&W tool.

By comparison, the contrast difference between color and monochrome is striking - especially in the clouds/sky.
