3/27/08 - Skyline Drive @ Easter

After very little snow all winter, several inches Easter Sunday night.
Converted a ho-hum lack of color image - just a bit of blue sky and a double yellow line - into a sepia tinted monochrome. Here's the image as shot - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/94768363
Managed to fill the entire tonal range without blocking the shadows nor blowing the highlights. The conversion shows better structure & detail than the color original.

A great range of tones, and I love the way the clouds compliment the S curve of the road.

However, it's awfully hard to look at more photos of snow just now. ;)

Ed ... this is one my favorite photos on this or any gallery. Great scenics, an interesting tint and the 'S' curve in the roadway ... fantastic ... Voted
