2/25/08 - Tulip Montage

Couldn't wait for nature & spring - bought some tulips today.
This is a montage - an overlay of two images. One image was shot fairly wide open in order to throw everything soft except for the crease running up the side of the tulip. The second image was at the same aperture but totally out of focus (the view through the viewfinder was just soft yellow-orange haze). All done in camera using the D300's Image Overlay feature.
The overall effect is somewhat unnaturally warm since it was getting dark and I left the WB at warm cloudy which is where I normally have it. However, the tulips actually are reddish-orange & yellow as shown so that much is correct.
