2/5/08 - Painting with Light

Forgot to upload a PAD yesterday - so I'll go with this one that I just finished.
I'm supposed to do a workshop next week for our community photo club on painting with light. Talk about the blind leading the blind. And as if I didn't have enough things already all piled up on top of one another - birthday, major photo exhibit, 3 photos due to a publisher (and I'm still trying to figure out CMYK), slide show for a local club luncheon, photo critique for a local club, competition judge (and I said that I'd never do this) for another club - all between the 8th and 13th; and now I agree to this workshop dead in the middle of the whole mess. Color me stupid.
I'm finding that getting this technique down is a lot harder than it looks. One conclusion - I need to go to the hardware store and investigate lighting options. Things would work better if the light could be focused/diffused, dimmed/brightened - more control in general. This was done with a small 3 inch pen light. Off I go tomorrow on yet another chore that I don't have time for.

Wonderful rich color! You may be feeling overwhelmed with stress and commitments but I have to give you a pat on the back because many of us would kill to be good enough at photography to be teaching others!! Take a deep breath and give yourself a moment to feel very proud.
