4/20/06 - Water Tulips

This is my glass jar (vase?) of Costco tulips that grew from 4" high shoots to a foot and a half and flowering in 16 days (tomorrow will be 3 weeks). Fourteen blubs sitting on a perforated platform about 1" above the bottom of the glass container - no dirt, just enough water to cover the roots.
I rarely (never?) shoot flowers with a wide angle lens - but when you gotta', you gotta. Covered the window behind them with a black cloth to get a better background than bright outdoor light.
It was either these 14 tulips or this beautiful Wild Columbine - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/58933557 - large than life size; no wide angle here,
or this multiple exposure - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/58933558

other sizes: small medium original auto
