9/26/04 - Bull Run Sunrise

Must be going through my sunrise phase. One way to meet my goal of getting away from macros is to work on surise/set. The two tripod shot dynamic range extension technique seems to be essential for these types of shots. Exposure compensation of zero produces a histogram that climbs both walls, but shooting one at +1 and one at -2 and combining them using a density mask does the trick nicely.

Actually got my butt up enough before sunrise to drive a few miles down the road to the Manassas (Bull Run) Civil War Battlefield. I've just about exhausted the short walking distance subjects. Ed, a powerful image. Would like to know more about this technique. First I have heard of it but recognise the problem. Bill.

I've experienced the same problem, running out of subjects near home. The good news is that you live in a beautiful part of the world.
I've seen this technique before. Do you know the PS equivalent to your density mask?
