04/06/09 - Spring at the Gazebo, 2

A second version of yesterday's daily photo with identical post processing. This illustrates points that I regularly mention to fellow shooters - do both horizontal and vertical orientations and try several vantage points. Yesterday's vantage point screamed HORIZONTAL to use the board walk leading line; today's shouts VERTICAL else the two trees are located too far inside the picture space & they're really saying "use us as frames".
I shoot everything with a tripod and have L-brackets on my cameras. After getting the L-brackets several years ago my number of verticals went up 3-4 times over what it had been. Face it, flipping the camera and recomposing can be a hassle without the right gear and so most of us avoid doing it.
