A shoot-through done by placing a wide-open lens in/against the orange leaves of a sugar maple while focusing on the brilliant red leaves of a bush about 8 feet away (in my backyard).
My first encounter with a shoot-through was 4-5 years ago while reading a Freeman Patterson book. His, also, featured a hazy orange foreground and in-focus leaves a short distance away as a subject - but done a lot better than this knock-off of mine. I spent many-a-day (many-a-month?) back then trying to do my first successful shoot through. The fact that I was trying with my first camera, a point and shoot, made the trying all the more difficult. You can see that first one of mine here- http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/28991420
PS - here's Freeman's shoot-through that first inspired me - http://www.freemanpatterson.com/1print4_art_of_seeing.htm
