You know what they say about curiosity & the cat

Well, that would be a little harsh, but she did get scolded for trying to hijack my popcorn. Also note, still breaking of the toilet/counter rule. That whole squirting thing (plan A) is not really working for us! One of you mentioned about putting some coins in a can and shaking it, that may be plan B.

Try double sided tape. Cats hate the "sticky" feeling on there paws. I tried it and it works good. The first time paws hit that sticky stuff, it's very funny (not for the cat). Try using cheap place mats with the tape, that way it's portable.

I broke my cat of jumping on my stair-rail posts (she liked to sit there) with a little duct tape. I cut some 2"x2" pieces and set them on the post upside-down, not wanting the tape to stick to the paint. The next time she jumped up there, the tape slid off in all directions, kinda scared her. And she got one stuck to her paw. She ran to the basement, tape on her paw. An hour or so later I carefully removed the tape, little scissors handy in case I would need to cut her fur instead of pulling it out, but didn't need them. It pulled off, slowly, and painlessly, and she hasn't jumped up there since.

Tape works really well for training kitties off counters...and it works whether you are there or not. Just put random strips of it sticky side up for a few days and it will discourage her. They also make little sticky strips for just this purpose, but in my experience plain old packing tape works just as well.

I have been following Zoeys story for a little while now, and I have to say- thank goodness there are people like you in the world...especially for little ones like her.
