The Brown-throated Sunbird is found in a wide range of semi-open habitats in south-east Asia, ranging from Myanmar to the Lesser Sundas and west Philippines in forests, woodlands, mangroves, bamboos, coastal vegetation, swamps, coconut groves, and gardens. This species feeds on the nectar of citrus, mistletoes, and other flowers. Also takes fruits, insects, and spiders.
