The “sword god” consists of a large sword blade, with for a handle a human torso. Instead of arms lion heads protrude at the shoulders. It is thought this is the god of the underworld, Nergal. This would tie in with a ritual text that has been found, referring to “the bronze swords of Nergal” and the “12 gods of the road junction”. Indeed on the opposite side a group of gods is represented.
