A "külliye" is the complex surrounding a mosque. Increasingly I realize how huge that of the Süleymaniye is. This is one of some pictures of a street that I took to be near the mosque, until I realized it was the outer side of part of the külliye. A door led straight into the gardens surrounding the mosque.
