A young man was reciting the Koran from memory long before I entered, and continued to do so all through my visit. A while later I told another tourist that he could enter without waiting for the recitation to go stop, for there was every indication it would continue for quite a while. The imam rarely had to correct him. Later another boy entered who maybe was next in line, he sat next to the imam, reading along.
