Though I could not enter I took some pictures of the inside of the mausoleum of Sokollu Mehmet Pasha, who built a wonderful mosque and its called in the Strolling Through Istanbul guidebook "perhaps the greatest and most capable of the long line of able grand vezirs of the sixteenth century". The building is by Sinan, built about 1572.
One of several pictures I took during a visit in the early evening in May 2014. Many spots were much quieter than during the daytime, the mosque itself was still rather busy.
In this case with Eyüp I mean the area, rather than the mosque alone.
