Isparta December 2013 4979.jpg

A Yörük shepherd sitting in front of his tent, with a spinning wheel in front of him. A somewhat unusual installation, since spinning the wool is generally women’s work.

His costume (trousers, sleeveless waistcoat and long-sleeved jacket) is made from a thick woollen fabric that is almost 100% waterproof and well adapted to rougher mountain climate. The design of the costume goes back to the mid-20th century.
