Ankara 08092012_3471.jpg

A queen (or a wet nurse) carrying the king’s youngest son.
Detail of the large ‘relief of Yariri/Araras and Kamani’, that was located at the front face of the Royal Buttress of
Carchemish/Karkamış (on the Euphrates River and on the Turkish-Syrian border, c. 25 km south of Birecik).
On the right: part of the text, written in Luwian hieroglyphs, saying: “ this (is) Tuwarsais, the desired (?) (one) of the ruler, the prince proclaimed for pre-eminence”. Neo-Hittite sculpture, basalt, Assyrian style, c. 8th century BC.
