Window Light August 10

Tuesdays are hard; I usually put in a 10-12 hour day at the newspaper and, even in summer, come home well after dark - very hungry, tired and mind-fuzzy. Dogs need to be fed; I need to find something to eat. Then, if I've managed to get home before 10 pm, maybe I'll watch trash TV, like Nip Tuck (guilty pleasure?) Today when I came home I realized I'd left the kitchen light on. It's a little fuzzy, like my brain, but it was a warm and very welcoming sight.

I was pretty sure the photo would be a little fuzzy since the shutter speed was very slow. I was tired enough, though, that if I'd actually thought about going into the house for the tripod, I would have said, 'oh, the hell with it' or gotten distracted by dogs and food and not taken the shot at all. It did make me wish for one of those vibration reduction lenses, though. Thank you for the comments and encouragement. Please, ma'am, may I have some more? (Bad parody of Dickens, I know -- but critique and all is greatly appreciated.)

Donna, you have a good eye, these types of photos (light and shadow) are my favorites. The composition is good, the only draw back? As you mentioned fuzzy. My guess would be camera shake, do you use a tripod? With this being a night shot using natural light the necessary shutter speed would probably be too slow for hand held. When you get a chance invest in a tripod and a remote shutter release.

ha ha ha ha ... I read your description and I have to tell you that this is my exact day on monday's tuesday's and wednesdays (right up to the nip tuck part... I have other silly shows I indulge in). I can definitely relate. None the less, I think you got a fine photo out of it.

I was thinking more 'Stephen King book jacket' than warm and inviting. The long shadow combined with the soft focus poses more questions than it answers for me. Great shot. :)
