Eastern Koel female

The Eastern Koel, until recently known as the Common Koel, is a large and noisy cuckoo that migrates from islands to the north to Australia to breed.
They turn up in my garden about October and stay until about March.
I hear their loud, rather-manic calls throughout the day and often at night as well, but don’t often get as close and clear a view as this.

It certainly has the cuckoo shape, but the pattern is so bold and striking compared to our cuckoos. A stunning shot.
