The homes in this gallery face west towards Palm Springs Middle School and Dupuis Elementary and were 1 block west of us on 9th Lane. This block has some very unsightly homes along it now as you can see the in the photos below.

5661 (behind the Chelotis family): the Albert family with dad Corky, mom Nancy, daughter Sharon and son Alan.

5691 (behind the Schmidt family): the Meisenholder family. Mr. Meisenholder worked for Pan Am. Their children were Billy (now living in the Panhandle with three kids), Loretta (now living in Hernando County), Mary (now living in Jacksonville), Barbara and one other child (name forgotten - Rosie?). One of the daughters later worked for an airline (Challenge Air Transport?) at MIA in the mid-80's - I taught her how to operate a jetbridge in one of my classes at the airport.

5701 (behind the Lavallies): the Brady family with husband Lou who worked in construction and his wife owned a beauty parlor. Their children were Jimmy, born around 1959 and Lisa, born around 1961.

5731 (behind the Stopanios): after the original family moved out, the Matos family moved in. He was a doctor in Cuba prior to coming to the USA.

5761 (behind the Mills): the McGough family with daughter Patty and two other daughters.

5791 (behind the Clarks): the Wally and Kika San Jourjo family with Wally working for Pan American World Airways, daughter Hortense and son Gregory. Hortense was a year or two younger than me and her brother Gregory was younger than her. They were from Puerto Rico.

5801 (behind the Lays): David and Norma Byers with sons Davey and Christopher. David was an electrician with Eastern Air Lines.
