My dad had a Plymouth station wagon with a record player. The kids would argue over which records to play. Only bad thing is that when we hit a bump, the needle would jump on the record.

I WAS THE 3RD OWNER OF THIS '55 DODGE ROYAL LANCER 500 BUILT ESPECIALLY FOR WELK. AT THE TIME CHRYLSER CORP SPONSORED HIS TV SHOW FOR THE FIRST FEW YEARS AND MADE THIS CAR ESPECIALLY FOR HIM. THE RECORD PLAYER WAS A 16 RPM WHICH CAME WITH A HALF DOZEN RECORDS THE SIZE OF A 45 RPM BUT WITH A SMALL HOLE IN THE MIDDLE. THE INTERIOR WAS BLACK AND WHITE VYNAL WITH PINK AND WHITE EXTERIOR AND BLACK TOP. I OWNED IT FROM '57 TO '59 AND COURTED MY WIFE AND THEN TRADED IT FOR A 55 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER ST REGIS WHEN MY WIFE AND I WERE MARRIED IN THE FALL OF '59. IT WAS MY FIRST 'REAL' CAR AND ALSO MY BEST UNTIL I BOUGHT MY LEXUS LS460.

Also... You couldn't just go to a record store and buy a record for this puppy. Because of the voltage differences you had to buy the records from the car dealer for it to work on the player. Try to find one now! HA!

Lawrence Baby...that record player was a factory option. Also, this is a 1955 Dodge. You can barely make-out the chrome lever protruding from the dash, just to the right of the speedometer. (2-Speed automatic) "PowerFlite" Transmission. You'll also notice, that there are no "Pushbuttons" on the left-side of the steering column dashboard. This was new for 1956, & controlled the iron-cased "PowerFlite" auto trans. Cheers, & "Thanks for the Memories!!!"
