We used to do this in high school at South Beach (south end of Miami Beach between the fishing pier and the jetty bordering Government Cut) and once you pick up the knack for it you never forget it. You throw the board as hard as you can so it lands on the shallow water and then run like hell and jump on it, hoping it doesn't stop dead throwing you on your face. Great sport, good only at low tide.
