I never found out how I got selected to represent the USCG when there were only four of us on recruiting duty in Tampa and a couple of hundred Coasties at the Air Station at Albert Whitted Airport and at Group St. Petersburg, and twenty or so Coasties at MIO/COTP Tampa. This interchange was located in the northern portion of St. Petersburg, somewhere near the Ulmerton Road exit or Roosevelt Boulevard North exit; I haven't figure it out yet.

Claude Kirk, the Governor of Florida at the time, was the keynote speaker at the event.
