I was always jealous of Penny for getting to fly. The show was never the same after they replaced the Cessna "bamboo bomber" (AT-17) with the Cessna 310.

Penny was my first girlfriend when I was six years old

One of my favorite shows, next to Rin Tin Tin... got my first dog, a cocker spaniel, when I was 6 and named him Rin Tin Tin. He lived for 16 years. Rin Tin Tin needs to be added to this link. As I recall, there was a tourist site on SR 60 or off I-4 called the Sky King Ranch, near Orlando, back in the 70's.

I just remember that they drove a Chrysler station wagon with the ranch logo on the side.

I LOVED this show and never missed an episode. Late on Saturday mornings, after Fury.

Nephew was Clipper, airplane was the Songbird and the ranch was the Flying Crown Ranch.

Don, didn't Kirby Grant the actor who portrayed "Sky King" move to Miami Lakes in the 70's? I believe he was living there when he was killed in 1985 on his way to view Challanger launch. He was also to be honored by the astronauts for his encouragement of aviation and space flight. He actually was a pilot and did as much of the flying for the show as he was allowed.

Sky King and Penny visited the Hialeah School c.1951.
