Thank you everyone for posting your comments and memories. Rest assured that many others love reading what you have to say.

J. W. - thanks for mentioning Uncle John's Pancake House because my wife, who grew up in Biscayne Park, had forgotten all about it until I read her your comments. She thought it was a great place too.

My Dad used to work at that Uncle John's Pancake House. They had some great pancakes. I also remember the 8600 club. There was a time when that Big Daddy's was the place to be. When that area started to get rough more people went to the Big Daddy's Just south of 135th Street and Biscayne. Now that was a place where everyone went, back in the day! Oh Yeah! I remember dancing disco to Donna Summer on their dance floor. Remember "The Jerk"?

I remember going with our neighbors the Cates (Mr. Cates owned Don Allen Men's wear in S Miami next door to the Riviera theater) to pickup their 61 Impala (had to have been used) . It had to have been 1962 or 1963, right around the time this picture was taken. I must have been 6 or so. I remember the overhang along Biscayne Blvd, long gone, but the dealer is still there. Seems like yesterday.

In 1959 my father bought me a metallic copper impala convertible from Tropical. I believe the price tag was around $3200.

I worked at Tropical in 1961 and 1962. During the Cubam missle crises the troop trains would go right behihd the service department with guys hanging out the windows of the cars yelling to everyone they saw. A time of great anxiety but the memories always come back.

Good recollection - I remember the Big Daddy's 8600 Club - it was hopping the time or two I stopped there. Don

Just south of that was the Big Daddies 8600 club and a Utotem across the street. Spent many times at both places. Later the 8600 club became Lindsey Lumber remeber? Richard

At the top left of this picture is an intersection and an empty lot on the southeast corner. In this lot Royal Castle built a store in 1964, #112. In the lower left of the picture where Biscayne Boulevard curves to the north there was a little plaza with an Uncle John's Pancake House. I used to love their chili pancakes!

My husband Danny Noblitt worked for Tropical Chevrolet in 1972. It bought back quite a few memories. Also reading the old memories from other people what about Skipper Chuck and Banjo Billy
