Our car in the background. Rather than wasting time sleeping, we drove all night from Macon, Georgia so we could hit Smoky Mountain National Park around sunrise rather than the middle of the day. It was worth the loss of sleep because we got there right before sunrise and it was absolutely gorgeous with no one else in the park. Other than some young ladies that I've known, it was one of the most gorgeous scenes that I've seen in my life. We spent the day in the park visiting numerous waterfalls and climbing Burnt Mountain and we were exhausted by the end of the day. We spent the night in a log cabin motel on the east side of Asheville, NC, probably near Swannanoa.
