This is how it looked when I moved into my aunt's house on Shalimar Street in Miramar in July 1970 after four years active duty in the USCG. There was very little development west of University Drive. Rather than take University Drive/NW 27th Avenue and the Palmetto to get to Hialeah we would drive west on Pembroke Road to the Broward equivalent of NW 47th Avenue in Dade and then go south to NW 183rd Street, then west to Red Road and then south to the Palmetto. It beat all the traffic lights and traffic on NW 27th Avenue.
