Miami area and South Florida restaurants, drive-ins, clubs, bars, etc. gone, but not forgotten

South Florida

Thank you to George Young for forwarding an e-mail list of some of these restaurants, author unknown and numerous posters, notably Steve with the memory of an elephant, who have commented with many more establishment below the image. Please feel free to add more restaurants, drive-ins, bars, dairies, etc. in the comments section below and I will add them to the list as time permits.

This list is Copyrighted 2012 through 2017. I compiled the list, I composed the words and you may not copy and paste the below list on forums or wherever like some scumbag a-hole with a username of ray1945 did on City-Data.com. I don't mind links to this page but the scumbag failed to credit this site as the origin and even deleted my links to photos of the restaurants that are next to the names and locations of the restaurant.

Kendall Inn on US1 by Shorty's. Good little cheeseburgers and cold beer. There was an old pool table in the back. I think it git closed down a couple of times and finally burned down.

Does anyone remember the Par Tee Lounge on S. Dixie Hwy, Miami...South close to Cutler Ridge? And the address or approximate location of it. I can picture it in my mind, but can't remember how far South it was. It was located on the East side of Dixie.

I don’t see a reference above for a bar or club on Lejune Road called Mother’s. There was a group there called The Paxtons who sang a great rendition of Little Anthony’s and the Imperials song Goin’ Out of My Head. At least that is the way I remember it. I was only in the Miami area for six months in '67 while learning to fly at Burnisde-Ott. Lived one of the apartments at 1115 Sharazad Blvd. in Opa Locka with a group of other fellows learning to fly at the time. Good times that I remember well. Perhaps I will get back there some day, or it could be best to only remember it as it was.

In my prior comment I meant in conjunction with visits to Bird Bowl. Gad, I'm in need of an edit feature at younger age than I anticipated...

My question is the name of another burger joint in the same early '70s era. It was on the southeast corner of Coral Way and 87th Avenue. Maybe 50 yards from the intersection. That building has subsequently been a Miami Subs and I believe it is now a Starbucks. But in the early '70s it was a Burger King-type restaurant but not a major chain. It was the first burger joint I ever saw with an isolated condiment bar. That's why I loved it and encouraged my parents to take us there. I could shovel gobs of relish onto my burgers. Short lived. It definitely wasn't Burger Chef. I've seen the name Burger Giant on these pages but that doesn't ring a bell. I have asked this on City-Data and elsewhere. Nobody has summoned the name.
Gary Kilbride 25-Dec-2020 04:03
Linda from December 2014 asked about a circus themed restaurant on the south side of Bird Road west of 87th Avenue, circa 1972-1973. I remember it very well, but maddeningly not the name. It was across from Bird Bowl. The building has houses many businesses subsequently...Chinese restaurant, flower shop, gym, hub cap shop. The '70s restaurant was a small counter-order burger joint with an extremely unique feature...a long tall multi-tiered multi-lane slide just east of the building and maybe 20 yards further back from Bird Road. You could earn rides on the slide via purchases in the restaurant. My friends and I loved it and did it in conjunction with visits to Bird Road all the time. They gave you a burlap sack to ride the slide.

The Ladybug Club was a great place for us Grovites in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
It was located where Berries in the Grove is now on SW 27th Ave. in the Grove. Great snacks table, bar and bands. Lots of dancing and good times. I’m not sure, but Monty Trainer may have been the owner?

I'm rather surprised and dismayed to not see such an iconic, historic Miami landmark as TOBACCO ROAD listed here! It was Miami's oldest bar, around since 1915! The address was 69 SW 7th St, Miami, FL 33130. It closed in October 2014. Another place I was surprised to not see on the list was Fox's Sherron Inn, again, another old establishment, around since 1946, and which closed in July 2015. It was very divey but certainly a Miami institution, located at 6030 S Dixie Hwy, South Miami, FL. Nearby, another restaurant that failed to make the list, was the New Chinatown, which closed its doors after more than 30 years of business, in May 2014. It was my family's favorite restaurant, and we still drive by its former location and mourn the loss. How about the Sizzler seafood restaurants in the 80s? I also feel like there used to be a Chinese restaurant at The Falls outdoor mall, maybe in the 80s? I was just a kid and we moved to Europe for a while, so I cannot recall its name, but it was gone when we moved back to Miami in the mid-90s. Maybe someone here remembers and can provide a name?

Am I imaging spending my childhood waiting for the day we could go to "The Pie Factory" in Miami/Coral Gables area? It was "smelling distance" from the Holsum Bakery on S Dixie Highway. They had a huge sign on the wall inside with all the different (fruit/dessert) pies they had. It was a proper restaurant, I thought.
Thanks!

Hi Don, the "Bahamas Steakhouse" should be "Bahama Steakhouse" or "Bahama Steak House". My parents were the original owners, and they ran the restaurant until they sold it to "Southern Caterers". The cover of the menu says "Bahama steak house and cocktail lounge". The dinner plates simply have "Bahama" on them. I can send you photos of the menu and the original dinner plates, if you like.

Don,
My sister is trying to find a restaurant that had a good brunch, located near Baptist Hospital back in the 80's.......the only one I can think of is Razzle's, but I think that was in a hotel closer to the Palmetto.
Keith 09-Dec-2017 21:32
Dear Don,
When we were kids our parents used to love to take us to the Old Scandia in Opa Locka. It was a great Smorgasbord style restaurant similar to the Prince Hamlet. We also went to the Continental Gourmet on Young circle in Hollywood. My parents used to take clients to the Top of the Home, atop the Home Federal building, also off Young circle in Hollywood. Another favorite of ours was Bud Dickey's Club House on 163rd Street near Eastern Shores and The Lime House Chinese Restaurant in Sunny Isles. By the way, there was also a Wolfies owned by Bernie Schandler across from 163rd Street shopping center. And our other favorite was Seymour Paley's Corky's on 167th Street! Mr. Paley had opened another Corky's in Pembroke Pines which closed about 5 years ago. He most recently owned Roasters and Toasters, before passing away 2 weeks ago. Corky's had the most delicious potato latkes-YUM!!!

The very best place to hear live music (Mop Tops) while dancing the night away, eating while playing pool and getting loaded in NW Dade was Little JP's in Hialeah. In the mid 60's there was no place that could compare.

I moved to Miami Beach in 1957 when I was 21 years old and am enjoying your nostalgic website. I lived in South florida for 25 years and often return. Several restaurants I used to frequent missing from your list include Franklin Steakhouse on Treasure Isle, Cookies on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, The Famous at 671 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, Carino's on Biscayne Blvd. Santacroce on US 1 across from UM. BTW, Wolfie's was located on Collins and Lincoln Road and Collins and 20th Street, Marina Bay in Ft. Lauderdale, Christine Lee's Steakhouse in the Thunderbird Motel and so many more. They were the best times in Dade and Broward.
Erik 27-Feb-2017 01:07
This is a fascinating site. I have some new establishments to add to the list. Sterling House Country Kitchen was located in Kendall Town and Country when that mall first opened its doors but is long gone. There was The Five Dames, an excellent Kosher- style restaurant based in Kendall which closed around 1980.

A guest entry from March 9, 2014 mentioned Grandma's Receipts on Kendall and 122nd, which was not added to the roster for some reason (He also mentioned Tabatchnik's which similarly remains absent from the list). My great uncle, Albert Goodstein, was associated with the former as well its predecessor in the same location, Bemelman's (circa 1978 - 1980).

Mention should be made of The French Connection at 1930 Ponce de Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables, Fiesta Tacos at 13921 N. Kendall Drive, Taco Viva (numerous locations), La Paloma at 10999 Biscayne Blvd., New York New York at 9017 SW 107th Ave, Cami's Seafood and Pasta (several locations), WAGS, Shell's at 7390 SW 117th Ave, Dalt's at Kendall and 117th. and the Roy Rogers restaurants. Also, K.C. Kagney's had a restaurant in the Kendall Lakes shopping center.

Been trying to find out about the Trio Diner and what happened to it... I think it was on 8th ? Tamiami Trail not far from one of the Gables gateways. It was a silver dining car attached to a building, and had been there for a long time prior to the late sixties, early seventies when my mother worked there. Sorry to be so vague... any info or pics would be appreciated.

Thank you Don, I have a photo of a match book which is sentimental to me as that is how my parents met. (How do I send you it?) The story my parents said was it was love at first site, My father was in the teepee club when he saw my mom (Who was a hostess and singer there at the time) as she was trying to light a candle on the table, he was watching her and got a giggle out of how she was trying to avoid the fire from the match. He walked over to her and asked if he could show her without hurting herself. He turned the candle upside down and lit it for her as the fire had drawn up to the wick and like magic, they were together from that point on. My father with his slick jet black hair and my mom with long jet black hair were a 'match' made in heaven :) They traveled all over the world together and were the best of friends from 1956 to 1991. Let me know if you'd like a copy of it and I can send you it. Thanks, Robyn

Bill Bray advised on another page about the El Toro Cafe:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don,
The El Toro was a tavern / liquor joint in the mid-to-late 1940's located at 709 NE 79th Street - there still is a night club / lounge / bar located at that address today. That location was a liquor-serving tavern from the late 1930's under other names (ex. 79th Street Tavern) and previous owners before becoming the El Toro managed by Andrew J. Corbett about 1944 or so.
Don, Have you ever heard of an "El Toro Café" in the Little River Area of Miami, not far from the NAS Miami at Opa-locka? This would have been in 1945 when my father-in-law was stationed at the airfield during WWII. Supposedly he rented a garage apartment just around the corner from the café and I would like to know the street address of the café to help determine the general area to search in census records. Thanks to anyone who could help! Bill
One more I don't see listed is Chez Vivien, on the south side of SW 8th Street, about 70th Avenue. I was a waiter at Chez Viven Saturday night, November 29, 1975. The bartender called me over just before midnight to take a phone call. My wife said "Get home NOW!" About 2 hours later, our 2nd daughter was born at Baptist Hospital.
Richard, thank you for your kind words. I do remember the Eddie Kendricks Trio name but I don't think we were there when they were performing. We have always tried to avoid dining out on Friday and Saturday nights unless it's a birthday, anniversary, etc. Thank you again for posting your comments and memories. Don,
Just wanted you to know that, like so many others, I really, really appreciate you compiling all these memories. You are a gem. And since you & your wife ate at Promenade, you may remember that on Fri & Sat nites, they had live entertainment ... the Eddie Kendricks Trio. Kendricks was one of the original members of The Temptations. And most nights they played, there was one guy I knew would be in the bar ... Clem Labine, the old Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher who won a couple of World Series games. For me, working at The Promenade was never work.
Don Boyd11-Mar-2015 05:55
And it time to catch up with everyone again. Thank you for posting here.
Linda: I don't know the name of the restaurant on Bird Road that you mentioned but someday someone will post the answer for you. Hang in there!
Alex: Thank you for the My Pi additions, I'll add them when I get done with the comments. Like with Linda, hopefully someone someday will post the answer you are looking for regarding the Coral Way restaurant.
Joe: thank you for the Chez Phillipe and Headquarters additions! I will add them soon.
Richard: thank you for the 27 Birds addition, and a huge thank you for the Promenade Restaurant, later Reflections on the Bay. My wife and I dined there a few times before it became Reflections on the Bay and we couldn't remember the name of it for anything despite loving the food and view there.
Also, I worked at The Promenade Restaurant when they opened in April of 1971. Some years later, it became Reflections on the Bay. Promenade was owned by Restaurant Associates, who also owned The Four Seasons in NYC. Promenade was a fun place to work, with a 360 degree view of the Bay and the city.
Richard 10-Mar-2015 05:47
27 Birds was a pretty popular bar at SW 27th Ave & Bird Road in the Grove. Don't see it mentioned here. Back in 1971, I had a girlfriend who lived about 3 blocks away.
I am looking for the name of an Italian restaurant on Coral Way at approximately 24 or 25 ave, on the south side, directly across from the Burger King that still exists there. This was 1970's. Please help!
Alex 14-Dec-2014 12:34
late 1970's and into the 80's - My Pi (as in the mathematical symbol). At least 3 locations. Sunny Isles on 163rd st, South Miami at US1 around Kendall Drive and one on West Kendall Drive, I think. At the time, one of the only places that made Chicago style Deep Dish Pizza.
Linda 13-Dec-2014 19:14
I'm trying to remember the name of a restaurant on Bird Road west of 87th avenue on the south side of the road and it had a circus theme. My friend and I frequented it during 1972 & 1973. Do you know what it is?
Don Boyd20-Nov-2014 08:22
Thank you to everyone who has posted comments and inquiries. I think I am caught up on the list again. When you send in names that are not on the above list please try to provide the location of the establishment that you remember, and time frame such as "late 40's", "early 50's", "mid-60's", etc. Locations and time frames help others remember the restaurant/bar/lounge/whatever. If the restaurant/bar/etc. was in the 90's or after I prefer not to list them because "that was like yesterday!"
Anybody remember the Gypsy Pub on Bird Rd a couple of blocks east of the Palmetto Xway? They had good food and a piano bar in the early 70s featuring Lani, a pretty Asian girl who could really sing. I think the Pub was "connected", likewise the Yorkshire Inn a couple blocks east.
I used to love Monk's Inn, great food and a nice place to take a serious date. My folks would take us to a place (near Gables?) called Thrifty Swifty, does anyone remember it? They served burgers & wieners, etc. Their long hot dog was called the Mile Long, LOL.
BobW 20-Mar-2014 03:24
There was a crab place somewhere near Bird Rd off 87ave I believe. They had paper covered tables and a worker would come over the loud speaker and say "Lets hear those knockers" and everyone would pound the table with their mallets. They specialized in Blue Crabs I believe from Maryland. Does anyone remember the name of this restaurant because for the life of me, I can't!!
Guest 09-Mar-2014 17:11
Where Samari is across from The Fall's there was a restaurant with entertainment, probably around 1975, it was rather expensive more like a dinner club. Can't remember the name. also I remember a restaurant called Grandma's Receipts on Kendall and 122nd and Tabatchnicks there too.
Mel Stephens 18-Feb-2014 16:12
Did a web search for 'Flicks' (because it was in the news today) and 'Cagney's' and yours is the only result! To chime in, Heidi's on Red at SW 16th, Zum Alten Fritz off Biscayne by the Omni at 16th or 17th, andbBill & Ted's a block west of Red at about 68th, by the high-tension power sub-station all get a nod. BTW, KC Cagney's technically hasn't closed: they re-opened on SW 137th near 112th Ave. Cheers.
PS The name of the Mexican restaurant in the Greenery Mall's northeast corner on Kendall (where the fabric store is, now) escapes me.
Joy, good luck on someone responding to your inquiry but it would help tremendously to give a little more information as to what cross street or at least the town (Miami, Miami Shores, North Miami, North Miami Beach, etc.) of where the restaurant was on Biscayne. Biscayne Boulevard runs from the Miami River up to the Broward County line or about 220 blocks.
Sorry, I don't know how to enter, but could you make an entry for Randy's Restaurant & Lounge at 13420 NW 7th Avenue North Miami? Smith Brother's Lounge & Package Store, 36th Street and Miami Avenue was THE place to be, WAY back in the late 40's and early 50's. I had the best pina colada I have ever had there, and I can still remember it after all these years,
These nice comments came to me via e-mail and I am reposting them here with permission of Bev Jacobson Lefcourt (MHS class of 1960):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Studio was one of my favorites. I remember that we always had to wait-------they would serve cheese to encourage purchasing drinks at the bar.

Then, it was a fantastic Ceasar salad, their wonderful onion soup, and marvelous choc mousse! Did I omit the main course~~~~~~MANY times! :-) I had to have room for all the above mentioned courses.

My VERY favorite was the Whiffenpoof (on the circle on Ponce)..........the very best of everything! I still remember the "banana fish"...........snapper with bananas on top.

Shiver's BBQ is still open at 28001 S Dixie Hwy. The mailing address is Homestead, but it is actually in Modello near Princeton (unincorporated Miami-Dade County). Was there another location that someone is referring to?

Yikes! I didn't realize the Tony Roma's at 6601 S Dixie Hwy closed (I checked). It was housed in what used to be the Checkmate Lounge.

For what it's worth, the Davie LUMS was not the last. As of 2012, there was still one in Nebraska, and one in Massachusetts.

Don

miamidon15-Jul-2013 16:44
You have a listing for "Trysting Place" at S Dixie Hwy & SW 80th Street. Trysting Places was a chain that included 6 West, 27 Birds, 1800 Club and One South (and maybe more). My sister was the manager for a while in 1970-1971 at the One South, which was located where the Payless Shoe Source is at 8099 S Dixie Hwy. Anyway, it should be One South, not Trysting Place, at the above-mentioned address.
miamidon15-Jul-2013 16:13
Ma Grundy's (on your list) was at 4400 NW 79th Ave, in the then-clubhouse (it's been bulldozed) for the Country Club Gardens apartments. I'll check to see if I have a useful photo for you.

It was, and is because it's still in operation, the 94th Aero Squadron. Until recently it was owned by Specialty Restaurants which had numerous same type restaurants at or next to airports all over the country. A new company recently bought Miami's 94th Aero Squadron from Specialty Restaurants after 35+ years of operating on Perimeter Road and their future plans are unknown.

Specialty Restaurants closed most of the military group restaurants in the past decade but a few remain in operation. Specialty also owns the Rusty Pelican and Whiskey Joe's on Rickenbacker Causeway in Miami, the Proud Bird in Los Angeles, the Sunbird Restaurant in Colorado Springs and others throughout the country. This is their restaurant location link:

the 82nd aeroquadron restaurant at the airport.
you could listen to the air traffic control on headsets and watch planes land and take off. In the back of the restaurant were half round booths that would sit 4-6 people easily. The waitress would pull the table out to seat you. They had curtains that you could close for privacy. Fond memories!

I will always remember the Phone Booth Lounge on NW 36th Street and East Drive in Miami Springs, Florida. What a neat and unique place . . . if you saw someone you knew or someone you would like to get to know, you just picked up the phone on your table and called the phone on their table, their number was hanging above their table. There were also phones all along the bar, so it made it very easy to meet people. I wish I could go there tonight.

I remember Chippy's on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. I ate there a number of times when I was in college visiting a friend at Univ. of Miami. We ate there so much because it was inexpensive, but good food. We didn't have much money back in those days! Anyway, I guess Chippy's is gone, because I can't find too many references to it. Thanks for providing so many historical images of Miami and the general area. I had an uncle who attended the Univ. of Miami in the early 50's. Raymond's was better----but the Cattleman actually gave out cigars with the check!
Don Boyd22-Jun-2012 05:06
It's a different George Young, Guest. One of my first contributors and a frequent contributor, our George was in the tire business for a career and not in the restaurant business except as a good customer.

Don
GUEST 21-Jun-2012 23:21
Oh my gosh...is this the REAL George Young who owned Hemingway's Restaurant in Hollywood Florida and the Hemingway's Restaurant on the beach on North Ocean Blvd?! Your ex-wife's name was Elaine? Snow White and her band played in the Hollywood Restaurant Lounge and Joey D'Anna was the head bartender on the restaurant side. Blond Eddie was your Maitre D' on the restaurant side. I remember the entire staff! Is this You, George?!?
George Young 04-Jun-2012 02:25
Splitter: The doughnut shop on Caribbean in Cutler Ridge was Dixie Cream Doughnuts.

Okay, I think I'm caught up again with restaurant names in the comments below.

Mitchell, which restaurant was at 163rd and US1 - the Cattleman or Raymonds? The location is in between your comments about Raymonds and the Cattleman.

Guest, where was Sam and Carl's? If you notice, I put the address and/or city or area where the restaurant was and not just the name. Thanks.

Don

After my Mother died in 1974, my Dad took me to eat at Charcoal Charlie's on NE 4th Ave in Fort Lauderdal at least once a week. I loved it. A large man named Moze was the grillmaster. Do you know the restaurant was at another location on South Federal Hwy before the one on 4th Avenue?

Also, the very best burgers in east Fort Lauderdale were at Von Essens Drugstore: one on Sunrise Blvd near the Intracoastal (across from Jordan Marsh/Saks in the Sunrise Shopping Center), and one on either Commercial or Oakland at Bayview Drive.
Michael Kaplan 21-Sep-2011 20:22
Do you remember "Monks Inn" on Coral Way? All the waiters were dressed as monks. Quite a Hoot. I am also trying to remember the name of a restaurant my family used to eat at on 32nd Ave near US1 in Miami. It was french and it was famous for its dessert table and its Chocolate moose. Anyone?
Mitchell Blanken 13-Sep-2011 04:43
Hello. I remember some very good restaurants that are not on your list. What happened to Raymond's Steak House? Fong Sha Noon's? The Cattleman? Bailey's?
The Shinto Temple?
Raymond's was fantastic! I heard that the owner was charged with cattle rustling and disappeared. (163rd and US1) The Cattleman actually handed out cigars to the men after dinner! Baileys was a great French/Continental place somewhere in the woods east of US1 in North Miami. The Shinto Temple was the main restaurant in the Castaways (intracoastal side), their oceanside "coffee shop" had the best deep fried french toast that has ever been made on earth.
The Sunny Isles area was a place of magic for me in the early 1960's. You could get a FRESH pina colada from a vendor who grated coconut to order and added it to a blender full of fresh pineapple and crushed ice. No alcohol to ruin it. Men sold palm frond hats at all of the hotels. Tourists would go "lobby hopping". There was miniature golf complete with trampolines. What great times they were!

Steve, thank you again for your latest editions! I'm caught up again.

Regarding Carvel Ice Cream stores, I don't know about the rest of the county but there are two in Hialeah that I still patronize when I'm in an ice cream eating mood. One is across from Hialeah High at E. 4th Avenue and 49th Street (103rd in Dade) and another on W. 49th Street around 14th Avenue, east of Westland Mall.

There was also a Wolfies at NW 79th Street and Biscayne Blvd. At another time, the same restaurant was called Arthur Maisel's. Great Kosher fare! Most of all I miss Howard Johnson's and Royal Castle.
Marty Little 24-Jul-2011 19:25
Dobbs House restaurants were similar to Huddle House and were several in Dade and Broward. There were several Sweden House restaurants other than the one listed in South Dade - North Miami and Plantation for sure. Jerry's Drive in on E. Sunrise Blvd. in Lauderdale and Pezio's Drive In on S. US 1 in Lauderdale. Neba's Roast Beef. A few locations in Broward, not sure about Dade. The Down Under restaurant on Oakland Park Blvd @ Intracoastal in Lauderdale; luncheonette at Williams City Drugs on NE 26 St in Wilton Manors; Gaslight Inn on US 441 & NW 5 St. in Plantation; BBQ Spot - two locatons in Broward - North US 1 and US 441 in Plantation; Charcoal Smoke House on NE 4th Ave in Lauderdale; Diney's Drive In on NE 4th Ave in Lauderdale; Kim's Cabin restaurant on W. Guest 23-May-2011 23:42
Snowdens Bar. On Fridays all the fried fresh catch dolphin you could eat. Or I'd have a basket of fresh steamed shrimp in the shell. At the end of Richmond Drive (SW 168) and Old Cutler Drive.
Robert Bride 23-May-2011 23:24
There was a Scandinavian Buffet restaurant near the Dixie Drive-in on South Dixie Highway (US 1) that had the best Swedish meatballs. Plus there used to be a fruit stand up the the road with real pina-colada without the alcohol to die for.

You forgot two more restaurants. One Coney Island, 163 St was mentioned earlier, and Moy Lee's Chinese Restaurant on Collins and 1st or 2nd Street. In the 50s my brother went to school at South Beach Elementry with her son. Moy, was a big gambler and used to spend each evening at the Miami Beach Kennel Club on Biscayne Street.

Another couple of hang outs on the Beach in the 50s, Dairy Treet, NW corner of Espanola Way and Washington Ave. near the Old Beach Hi, and the

I remember Pumpernik's from the early '60s. They had ashtrays that said "Nicked From Pumperniks". Guess they assumed people were gonna take them as souvenirs. We obliged and took one.
Louis 12-Mar-2011 04:37
We must also add Sloppy Joe's Juice Bar, next to the Town Theatre! That place had awesome hot dogs steamed in beer! On one of the pictures of the Town Theatre it is slightly visible, the sign is readable if you remember the name of the place. I used to love going there when we went downtown back in the 60s. Not sure when that place closed down.

Arbetters hot dogs are the best around today but did you ever have a dog at Sid's Pub on SW 8th Street just east of 27th Av? They were oversized weiners & buns and the weiner was steamed in beer and the sauerkraut was steamed in sherry wine. Then you could add mustard & chili all for .30 cents. They also had ice cold draught beer. What a combination! Went there many a Saturday afternoon. Then Johnny Collins and I would stop at the Hurricane Inn and watch football on color TV.
