Dressel's Dairy was a very popular place on weekends, especially for families with children, because of great ice cream, milk shakes, malts, etc. and their pony rides, kiddie rides and farm animal petting zoo. The Dressel brothers bought the Milam Dairy in 1941 and renamed it to Dressel's Dairy. There are ground level photos of the kiddie rides at Dressel's in the "Attractions Gallery" at http://www.pbase.com/donboyd/memories_attractions in the 1964 time frame.

Kurt and John: thank you for posting. Someday I hope someone contributes ground level photos of the dairy buildings, petting zoo, mini-railroad, etc. It was a fun place with great ice cream treats for families.

I remember in the early 60's my father (John) had a job working as aircraft mechanic for American Airmotive (who maintained the planes for the Hurricane Hunters )on the west end of the Miami Int'l Airport (MIA).My mother (Blanche) , baby sister(4) and I (6) would pick him up on lunch break and drive just west to DRESSEL'S FARM on Milam Dairy to buy ice cream ,take pony rides and ride the mini train than would travel in a large circle around an enclosed pasture located just in front of the store.

Wow! One of my favorite places, and fondest childhood memories. The train ride, the pony rides, and of course the ice cream. we used to eat our cones down till the rigid part at the bottom, then we would feed them to the horses.
