Winter's Arrival

Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park was still open so we took the opportunity to drive
the route. The weather wasn't on our side but it proved dramatic the way it was. There was just enough
light breaking through to show some of the lower peaks. Winter arrives early in the mountains, but it
serves as a reminder that snow will be with us in a few weeks!!! This was a day after the first sign
of snow in the mountains. Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous motorway in the United States,
with more than eight miles lying above 11,000' and a maximum elevation of 12,183'.

P.S. Our friend's daughter left today, so I'm using the rest of the week to show our friend what she's seen.

Wow, dramatic stuff... I miss the snow the UK used to have when I was younger, we just get drizzle now!

I was going to comment that it looked like a large wave from the thumbnail too, though I think you are too far from the ocean, I am almost as surprised to see that it is snow though, it seems too early! Intriguing shot with that heavy cloud hanging over like an eyelid.

Outstanding shot, Dave, with the cloud cover, clouds, mountains, and foreground terrain. Vote

Beautiful mood scene, Dave. I can't wait to see snow! Yes', I've gotten some nasty profane comments too. That road is so spectacular. V.

P.P.S. Sorry MOG - I blocked guest comments due to the amount of spam I was getting from Russian domain hosters!! I can guess what you opinion of this shot would be and yes I should have used a tripod, blah, blah, blah. Feel free to have the balls to use your Pbase ID rather than hiding in anonymity like a_cowardly_shit. Your friend - Dave.
