The Amazon River is referred to as white water which is hard to grasp at first as it is very brown due to its silt content. Here you can see where rivers called black water are meeting the white water of the Amazon. The black color comes from its high tannin content. The fishing is often good here where the waters meet, for both humans and birds alike. One theory is that the different ph of the waters might stun the fish.
