I am using red-colored Photina foliage, backlighted by the afternoon sunshine,as my out of focus background material in an effort to see how this Canon 100mm macro lens renders such foliage. HEre at f/3.2 the background is smoother and much more out of focus than it was with the lens stopped down to f/8,and there's not enough DOF to cover this subject properly, but it does illustrate the background highlight handling, and also allows us to see the focus transition character by looking closely at the rose leaves.
