Governor Fitzroy was the last New South Wales Governor to formally reside at old Government House, Parramatta.
The original offending tree has long since died and since then three oak trees have successively been planted
to replace it, including the present one in 2000.
From 1858 Governors began to live full time at Government House in Sydney, by the harbour.
